LOVE LOST RUSSIA - 2010 -20

An exhibition of works created during thseven years spent l between Russia and the UK. The paintings are about landscapes, both physical and psychic, the‘inscapes’ of emotion felt so deeply in this culture of extremes; the first love found in the explosion of Spring full of floating lime-blossom, through to the pull to Pilgrimage, the exhibition charts the internal geography of our inner life, the Soul still honoured fully in Russia as it was once here. Imbued with a sense of longing that will be familiar to anyone who has experienced long-term separation, the Work I hope expresses the paradox of love and loss, the grief so deeply in long suffering Russian people.

CURRENTS & CREATURES - 2021 -24

Following expulsion from Russia in 2021 returning to London without a studio space the focus has been on small scale watercolours, seeking to capture in free form the rhythm of things. What appears are both currrents and creature largely in an aqueous world ranging from abstract to naturalistic.
GRIEF - 2020-22

Building on the exploration of love and grief so part of the Russian experience close deaths of loved one inspired images of grief. Other works form previous periods have collected her to render the range of emotions around death and loss in general. Some works seek to personify those feelings, others use dream images or almost theatrical depiction of conditions of despair felt around loss.
